
Molungkimong, February 7 (MExN): Youths from Pochury Baptist Church Council (PBCC) who had gone for pilgrimage tour to Molungkimong in Mokokchung district were baptized at Molungkimong on February 6.
The tour team of 130 members included those 103 candidates for baptism and 24 Ministers and others. They were baptized by ten licensed Ministers working under PBCC. The Molungkimong villagers, according to a press release issued by Molungkimong Baptist Church, turned up in large number to show solidarity, and witnessed the baptism singing hymnals until the end of the program. The same evening, Molungkimong Baptist Church organized a special Lord’s Supper program which was led by Pastor R. Ali, who also presented the Baptismal Certificates to the newly baptized members, and mementos to the PBCC leaders. Meanwhile, the Holy Communion was administered by Rev. Dr. N. Toshi Ao of Molungkimong Village.
“The youths came with true conviction of Christian faith to experience a new life in Jesus Christ by taking baptism at the first Baptistery in Naga Soil,” the release stated. “Since the first baptism, the water from this pool has been considered as sacred and its spring as healing water for those who believe. Today, a baptism event with such a passion has indeed made this Baptism Pool alive all over again,” it added.
Speaking on behalf of PBCC, its youth secretary, Rev. T. Arhüchu, appreciated the Molungkimong people for according them a warm welcome and generously hosting them. The release further informed that Molungkimong village has extended appreciation to PBCC leaderships and Yitachu, Parliamentary Secretary, Vety & A.H. for their enthusiastic effort in organizing such a significant event, encouraging the younger generation to experience a memorable pilgrimage tour to the village. It may be mentioned that the first Baptist church in Nagaland was established in Molungkimong village.
