Kohima, January 24 (MExN): Along with the rest of India, Nagaland will conduct the 15th Round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) across the state on January 28. The Department of Health & Family Welfare is all geared up to administer Polio drops to over 2.3 lakhs eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the state in 2274 Polio Booths, informed a press release Principal Director, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Dr N Bendangyanger Jamir. It will be manned by 9096 health personnel and 455 supervisors along with vaccines and other logistics, it said, with special focus on migrant population with an aim to prevent importation of Polio cases. While India has remained free of wild polio cases since January 2011, she still remains at high risk of importation till the whole world is free of wild polio virus, it added. In this connection, while appreciating their past cooperation, the department further appealed all sections of the people, Agencies (Govt. and Non Govt, including the security forces and police), organizations, churches and community leaders and especially parents of children below 5 years to come forward and ensure that all eligible children receive the "Two Drops of Life" (Polio Drops) on Sunday.
