Filmmaker-actor Pooja Bhatt, who had planned a feature film on her father, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, has now decided to make it into a web series. “I am actually doing a biopic on him as a miniseries for the digital space. A life like that can’t be captured in a mere two hour capsule and needs to be told truthfully and completely,” she says. The proud daughter feels Mahesh, 67, is the kind of inspirational figure whose experiences can enrich generations to come. “If you think about it, my dad’s films Arth (1982), Janam (1985), Daddy (1989), Aashiqui (1990), Zakhm (1998)... these are all chapters of Mahesh Bhatt’s life. The biopic will make for compelling viewing,” says the 44-year-old who made her directorial debut with Paap (2004). The question is, who will play Mahesh Bhatt? Apparently, Mahesh’s nephew, actor Emraan Hashmi is the prime contender for the role.
