A poster competition  on the theme ‘Waste Management and Plastic Pollution’ organized by Zero Waste Himalaya Nagaland in collaboration with Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) and Green Mokokchung Campaign was held at Mayangnokcha  Government Higher Secondary School Auditorium in Mokokchung on September 17. 


The Convener of Zero Waste Himalaya Nagaland Thangi Mannen during an informal programme encouraged the students to raise their voice through the poster they made for a change and not to think that they are insignificant to let their voice being heard by others. She said that “Now is the time to speak up before the earth erodes because of our selfishness.”


She also added that since last month the Zero Waste Himalaya, Nagaland has initiated a series of programmes in Mokokchung, Kohima and Dimapur which were sponsored by Swachh Bharat Mission.


The poster competition will also be held in Kohima and Dimapur soon and the culmination programme will be held at Kohima.


Thirty-four students from five schools- Lady Bird, Mayangnokcha Govt Hr. Sec. School, NI Jamir Govt. He. Sec. School, Jubilee Memorial School and Town Hr. Sec. School took part in the competition.
