Prabananda Women’s College holds freshers’ social

Prabananda Women’s College, Lhomithi colony, Dimapur held its 28th freshers’ social cum annual function at its college premises with Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs as the special guest and Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol and Srimat Swami Subhranandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Jamshedpur as the guests of honour.
Addressing the girl students, Minister along said that the influence of women in the Naga society was not undermined and they were not behind. He rather said that the Higher Education sector in the state is run by women.
He lauded the PWC for being the pioneer in the education and empowerment of women acknowledged that the power of a woman was something which men can never comprehend and the greatest power of a woman is to be a mother.
He told the student community that they need not be envious of anybody as they are an epitome of strength.
"Our sarcasm as men, our hypocrisy of power cannot undermine your strength which is completely resurgent. We look up to all of you that one day you will be the people who will engineer social changes,” he added.
He challenged the student community to be social entrepreneurs and engineers for tomorrow's Nagaland. “You will not know your own influence but you are all influential people. You will have to be the cradle of incubation,” he said.
DC Dimapur, Kevin encouraged the students to be hardworking and remain on track of what they want to become in the future. He also urged them to do away with the negativity of self pity and to value life as well. He informed that the state is going plastic free by September 19 while the country would be going plastic free on October 2.
During the programme the PWC felicitated Jesmina Zeliang with a scroll of honour for her contribution to the society in the field of textiles and crafts.
