Promoting traditional way of life

To encourage villagers to find revenue through our traditional way of life, Traditional Evening Park at Kigwema was formally inaugurated by Advisor, Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Er Zale Neikha on December 1 at Kigwema Local Ground.

As part of the Hornbill Festival Extension, it is initiated by Kigwema Youth Organization (KYO) in collaboration with Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland.

40 stalls, which are converging at the village ground, have variants of organic produces, handlooms and handicrafts. The stalls interestingly are run by women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Level Organizations (VLO) and Youth Organizations of the five village khels.

To encourage and provide income source for the differently-abled people, an official of the KYO also informed The Morung Express that a stall has also been put up for them. Handcrafted items and kitchen utilities are put up. This is also mooted to enhance human resource development.

This initiative has also endeavored to make it family friendly and alcohol free park.   Local delicacies and beverages, traditional game, bonfire and music are other highlights. The park is open from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Vikho-o Yhoshü, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly conveyed greetings and also visited the stalls.

Vibelie Sale, President, Kigwema Youth Organization (KYO) delivered the introductory speech.
