Kohima, April 3 (MExN): With the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) being converted into a COVID-19 Hospital, the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) on Friday appealed the State Government to arrange alternate affordable measures for patients who cannot afford care in private hospitals.
“NHAK is the only government hospital in Kohima, and now, the citizens are left with no option but to approach the private hospitals for any kind of treatment,” AYO President Kekhrie Pfukha and Vice President Neidilhoutuo Sechü stated in a press release. While the “impromptu measures” taken by the government is understood, the AYO said that there are many patients from the district who cannot afford to visit private hospitals. As such, it appealed the government to arrange alternatives for such patients.
Further, the AYO said that there were reports that “people coming from outside, especially non locals, are not adhering to the directives on quarantine and are roaming freely after their return from neighboring states.” As such, it directed all the citizens, including people from different parts of the country residing in Kohima, to strictly adhere to the directives laid down by the district administration and the health department.
It also requested the government to provide proper protection gears to the police personnel operating at the check gates.
Meanwhile, the AYO expressed appreciation to all individuals/organizations for rendering their services in the effort to prevent the virus from entering the land and advised all volunteers to attend to their duties by using proper protection gears.
