Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): The Pathso Range Students’ Union (PRSU) has welcomed the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) for demonstrating wisdom and foresightedness by giving equal importance to all the Khiamniungan languages for research and development of Khiamniungan literature and school textbooks.
The PRSU in a press release by its President, L Pukho Khiamniungan said that this will go a long way towards the collective well-being and harmony within the community. “The resolute effort of KTC in dispelling the air of confusion on existence of diverse Khiamniungan languages is truly laudable for fostering an environment of mutual understanding,” it stated.
The PRSU in its press release maintained that the KTC June 30, 2023 office order states that “The KLB member(s) shall have the right to carry out research in his/her own mother tongue/dialect, and each mother tongue (sub-dialects) under Khiamniungan tribe shall be given equal importance in all Khiamniungan literatures and textbooks.”
The PRSU also stated that the March 22, 2024 KTC Executive Session had recommended all the diverse-Khiamniungan languages for research, development, and inclusion on UDISE, which “are milestones and testaments that will be cherished and celebrated for generations to come.” According to the PRSU, “While acknowledging through its 33rd Executive Session on dated 22nd March 2024 held at Peshu village that Khiamniungan-Wolam, Thang, Patsho, Nokhu, Peshu, and others are inclusive mother tongue/languages of Khiamniungan Naga tribe,” the KTC recommended “for preservation and development, for which we have no objection.”
