
Pungro, December 5 (MExN): The Yimchungru people displaced from Kiphire under the banner of Kiphire Displaced Yimchungru Union (KDYU) held thanksgiving programme for land donated to them by Pungro Village Council on December 5 at Pungro Town.
A press release from KDYU Executive Chairman, S. Lunso informed that the chairperson, Samuel shared joy and thanked the Pungro Village Council for donating land to the displaced families of 239 Yimchungru households, who are staying in rented houses, and bringing new hope and dreams to them. He termed such act of kindness a rare case among the Nagas.
Rusumew, Head GB of Pungro Village, who spoke on behalf of the village council, urged to stay united and have cooperation with both Pungro Town and Pungro Village. He also called for love, peace and concern for others.
Meanwhile, Makizho, Jt. Secretary, YTC thanked the Pungro Village Council for donating land to the displaced Yimchungru families and also thanked all the leaders of Pungro area for continuous help given to the displaced people. He appealed to the department concerned to expedite processing of all the files for the displaced people and related files of February 7, 2016 issue.
Kiusumew, President, Public Forum Pungro Subdivision remarked that the donation of land by the Pungro Village Council is a great blessing for whole Yimchungru and not only for the displaced. “It is first ever in the history of Naga soil that happened to us, yet there will be a great blessing for all of us,” he added, according to the release.
Further, Tsekilo, Head DB, Pungro Town urged to ease the past pain. On the other hand, Musumong, Head GB, Pungro Town encouraged not to be only dependent on Government for everything, but to come forward in overcoming the hardships.
C. Nioji, former president, YTUK thanked the invitees for participating, and the public for the cooperation given to make the programme a success.
Earlier, the programme started with invocation prayer by Yimto, pastor, PTBC and ended with prayer by Chipong, pastor, PCPT.
