Ranji Trophy: Suchith’s 6-wicket haul puts Nagaland in command against Mizoram

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): Nagaland remained in control on Day 3 of their Ranji Trophy clash against Mizoram at the Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium, Nadiad. Jagadeesha Suchith delivered a match-defining performance, claiming six wickets to leave Mizoram struggling at 371/9 at stumps. Mizoram, despite a brilliant 146 by Agni Chopra, trails Nagaland by 365 runs with just one wicket in hand in their first innings.

Nagaland’s dominance was built on their massive first-innings total of 736/7 declared, anchored by Chetan Bist’s historic unbeaten 304 and Nischal Dega’s commanding 145. Mizoram’s bowlers, led by K. C. Cariappa with figures of 4/141, had no answers to Nagaland’s imposing batting display.

In their reply, Mizoram’s Agni Chopra fought valiantly, scoring a quickfire 146 off 152 balls. Lower-order batsman Mohit Jangra contributed an unbeaten 73 to steady the innings, but Jagadeesha Suchith’s relentless 6/107 left Mizoram teetering as the day ended.

Looking ahead, Nagaland will aim to wrap up Mizoram’s innings swiftly on Day 4 and press for an innings victory. With Suchith’s all-around brilliance and a formidable lead, the team remains well-placed to secure a commanding win.

Col C K Nayudu Trophy: Delhi in control against Nagaland
In the Col C K Nayudu Trophy, Delhi took control of their match against Nagaland at St. Stephen’s Ground, New Delhi. After dismissing Nagaland for 240 in their first innings, Delhi’s openers ended Day 1 unscathed at 119/0, trailing by 121 runs.

Nagaland’s innings was anchored by Sujal Prasad, who scored a vital 69 off 96 balls amidst regular wickets. However, Delhi’s Rounak Waghela produced a stunning spell, taking 7/54 to dismantle Nagaland’s batting order.

In response, Delhi’s openers, Arpit Rana (60*) and Sujal Singh (56*), dominated the evening session, forming a confident partnership that left Nagaland’s bowlers searching for answers.

Nagaland will need to regroup and aim for early wickets on Day 2 to restrict Delhi’s lead and stay competitive in this Plate Group fixture. The team will rely on disciplined bowling to counter Delhi’s momentum and keep their chances alive.
