Residents of Razeba undertook road clearance and repair on September 2.

Dimapur, SEPTEMBER 2 (MExN): Over 700 residents of Razeba, including the population from three villages and one mini-town, participated in a mass social work event to repair the severely deteriorated PWD road stretching from Pfutsero to Chilo on September 2. The initiative, organized by the Razeba Public Organisation in collaboration with local leaders, focused on cutting roadside grass and filling potholes along the 16-kilometer stretch of road.
The Pfutsero-Chilo road, a vital lifeline for the Razeba range and neighboring Manipur villages, has long been in a state of disrepair, with conditions worsening over the years. The road is crucial for transporting vegetables and fruits from the region, which are supplied to various parts of the state and beyond.
However, the poor condition of the road has severely impacted the marketing of these products, particularly during the peak monsoon season, forcing farmers to sell their produce at significantly reduced prices.
This community-driven repair effort is not the first of its kind. In 2021, local youth led a similar initiative titled "My Road My Future," which involved major road repairs through crowdfunding. That project, which took two months to complete, repaired 13 kilometers of road with the support of the public and well-wishers.
Despite these efforts, the residents of Razeba continue to await government intervention for a long-term solution to the road's condition.
