Kohima | February 28 : Former Director, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dr. S Hekha who is also the founder of Modern College Kohima expired this evening from a city hospital where he was been treated after he had an accidental fall from three storey building at his private residence cum-college campus at Dzüvürü, Kohima here this evening.
According to family source, the accident took place at around 3.30 pm when he was watering his flower garden when he accidentally fell from the 3-storeyed building while trying to walk across between the two nearby buildings. He was immediately rushed to the nearby Bethel hospital where he was been treated of broken ribs and other injuries and later succumbed to his injuries at around 8.30pm. Late Dr. S.Hekha is survived by his wife, five sons and two daughters.
According to family sources, the funeral service of late Dr Hekha is tentatively schedule for 1 pm Wednesday at his private residence, Dzüvürü, Kohima.
Meanwhile, the Mao Union Kohima (MUK) expressed shocked at the sudden news of the untimely demise of late Dr.S.Hekha who is not only a fatherly figure of the Mao Community residing in the state capital but also constant advisor and patron of the union at any point of time. The union recalled that late Dr. Hekha was not only a mere retired government official but a true Naga who is always a strong supporter and an ardent advocate of the Naga issue and in particular the ongoing Naga reconciliation and unity process.
In his untimely demise, the Nagas as a whole and the Mao tribe in particular has lost a great and upright leader and the vacuum created in his demise shall not be easily filled up.
The union also conveys our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prays to God Almighty that his soul rest in peace. MUK President H. Lokho stated this in a condolence message here today.
