Kohima, December 18 (MExN): The Detailed Training Report on “Organic Farming- Azolla, Waste Decomposer” at IETC, Medziphema, a week-long skill training of rural youth on Organic Farming-Azolla, Waste Decomposer” was conducted at IETC, Medziphema from November 25 to 30 in collaboration with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad.

Seyievielo Sono, VP and Academic I/C, IETC, Medziphema apprised the trainees about the benefits of organic farming and its impact on sustainable agriculture, stated a press release received here. He also encouraged them to take the STRY training seriously and disseminate what they have learned to the farmers in the inaugural session.

Dr Vizokhonyü Yhome, Lecturer IETC &i/c Bio-Fertilizer Laboratory, IETC and Yavikhotuo Mechieo, Agricultural Field Assistant, Bio-Fertilizer Laboratory, IETC serve as the Resource person for the training. During the training, the symbiotic relationship between Azolla and cyanobacteria, benefits of Azolla usage in farmers’ field and its usage for chicken and duckery farming was imparted and their multiplication techniques was also demonstrated.

Hands-on demonstration on production of ‘waste decomposer solution’ by using jaggery, water and waste decomposer, and its usage for decomposing waste, seed treatment, disease control and soil treatment was also imparted.

A total of 20 rural youths were trained. On the concluding day, self-assessment test was conducted after which certificate were awarded to the trainees.
