Pungro, October 28 (MExN): A two-day teachers training commenced at Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) Pungro under Aspirational District Kiphire on October 28.
The training under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland will cover different matters on the use of Teaching Learning Materials (TLM), Teachers Handbook on Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) and Vidya Pravesh 3 Month Play-Based Module under Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) and FLN.
Addressing the introductory session, Hoshito Elias, SDEO Pungro, requested the participants to take the training programme seriously. He spoke on the importance of training to improve the quality of education in schools. He also warned the teachers that action shall be initiated against absentees.
Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland delivered keynote address during the introduction session.
Kenye, informed the participants that the training is being conducted in 46 EBRCs in the state involving 132 Resource Persons and 6716 teachers from 1679 Government school having primary classes.
He informed the teachers that TLM and Teachers Handbooks were developed by SCERT under ECCE and FLN components to improve learning outcomes in schools to achieve Universal Foundational Literacy & Numeracy for all children of ages 3-8 years by 2026-27.
Additional TLMs were developed by ChangeInkk Foundation and Sols Arc, New Delhi based on Universal Learning Design (UDL).
‘Learn to read, read to learn’
Kenye reminded the teachers that one of the core idea of NIPUN Bharat Mission is “Learn to read, read to learn” to make a child an independent learners in their later years after acquiring FLN.
He lamented on the issue of poor performance of the state as indicated in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 report and Foundational Learning Study(FLS) conducted by the Ministry of Education and requested the teachers to make efforts by effectively using TLMs been provided to schools and come up with innovative practices to improve learning outcomes of students.
Kenye informed that the state has developed State NIPUN Bharat theme song which was played for the teachers and urged them to teach the students in the schools.
Altogether, 89 Pre-primary teachers, Primary Teachers and School Heads have registered for this programme and took NIPUN Bharat Mission pledge.
