Dignitaries and participants of 3-day training on SepakTakraw.
Kohima, September 11 (MExN):The Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) in collaboration with the Southern Angami Sepak-Takraw Players Association (SASTPA) organized a 3-day training in the discipline of SepakTakraw for 13 Southern Angami villages in three phases on 5th, 7th and 9th September, 2024 at Multipurpose Hall, Kigwema.
Altogether, 65 young promising players from the region attended the training, thereby marking a significant milestone in advancing the sport of Sepak Takraw and fostering a vibrant community of enthusiasts and professionals.
SASTPA team led by is president Vimetsül Tase, former international Sepak Takraw player along with host of international and national players, coach and a referee, such as Viseyie Koso, Viketoho Tsükrü, Puleno Neikha, Kechazeno Kirha, Menenu Tsükrü, Neisato Lcho, Puduto Koso, Kevisaho Neikha and Shokum Kips conducted the training session.
The training programme featured a dynamic mixed of theoretical knowledge and practical application, focussed on foundational skills including stretching, dribbling, passing, and serving.
Participants competed in friendly matches, applying their newly acquired skills and strategies in real-game situations.
Tase highlighted the ever growing importance of Sepak Takraw as a sport disciplines.
He encouraged the participants to do their best and dedicate their time in achieving their goals.
Tase also pointed out that, there are a number of prominent Sepak Takraw players in the region and are doing great both at the national and international levels, winning medals for the country and the state, bringing laurels and good name particularly to Southern Angami region. He encouraged the youngsters to take up the disciplines of Sepak Takraw as a career, which has a great potential and a vast scope even for the employment in both state and central sector.
Further, he assured that the Association is always ready to help out and assist the players, whenever called for.
The 3 days session was chaired by Mhasileto Kaimo (Treasurer, SASA), Kezholekho Rhetso (Property Secy. SASA) and Pukil Kintso (Joint Secy. SASA).
Welcome note was delivered by Dr. Vimezo Kere (President, SASA) and Kedüzo Kezo (Vice President ,SASA).
The closing remarks was proposed by Neidamo Leno (Wrestling Secy. SASA), Nometo Kin ( VP.SASA) and Medolezo Francis Tepa for the respective program.
The Kigwema Youth Organisation and the Kidima Youth Organisation hosted the 1st and 2nd day whereas the Youth organisations of Kezoma, Kezo Basa, Kezo Town, Mitelephe and Sakhaba jointly hosted for the 3rd training session.
Dr. Vimezo Kere, president of SASA, handed over citation to the trainers and also First Aid Box to all the participating villages and encouraged the players to seriously take note and also spread their knowledge as they go back to their respective villages.
