Shamator Task Force chalk up plans to enhance COVID-19 response

Shamator, August 25 (MExN): The Shamator Task Force for COVID-19, under Tuensang district, held a consultative meeting on August 25, with volunteers, resource centre in-charge, media cells, medical team, NGOs and chairpersons of 11 wards.

The objective of the meeting was to acclimatize the frontliners and public with new agendas to fight against the pandemic, a DIPR report stated.

Chairperson of the task force, ADC Lankonsen Tsanglao is said to have informed the meeting of the decision to “dispense with a resource centre for the time being.” The ADC also informed that every ward will now have a five-member committee to supervise those under home quarantine.

Shamator has at least 50 plus people under home quarantine at present, it said.

The two quarantine centres may remain functional for any emergencies, he said, while adding that provisions to set up a TrueNat machine at Shamator CHC is also being initiated.

During the meeting, YTC member Kiuji pointed out that fake rumours of COVID-19 positive cases in Shamator are being been circulated, the report said. In this regard, Kiuji appealed the public to refrain from such unauthorized fake rumours. He also extended appreciation to the administration and frontliners for their efforts against the pandemic.

Another issue brought up during the meeting was that of poor network connectivity.

According to the DIPR report, YTC member Tsurito due to connectivity problems, students have been gathering at the public ground to access online classes. He is said to have advised the students “not to gather at night as it is not the right time and it might only create social problems.”

The ADC meanwhile informed that a trial roster-based system for customers to visit the bank will be initiated by September.

The ADC also thanked all frontliners for rendering their services in the “daunting” task of looking after the returnees, over the past few months.

He said that the fight for COVID-19 is still going on, and therefore appealed  everyone to extend their support by wearing masks, maintaining social distance and staying home unless very necessary.
