Raj Bhavan Kohima celebrates State Foundation Days of Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya

Kohima, January 21 (MExN): Shared history and bonds unite the North-East States, and though geography, languages, and cultures may differ, they are all bound together by common aspirations for peace, development, and progress of the states and the country, Nagaland Governor La Ganesan reminded on Tuesday.

The citizens of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura residing in Nagaland exemplify this unity, he added, addressing the celebration of the State Foundation Day of the three states at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, on January 21.

Acknowledging their contributions to the growth and progress of the State, Ganesan also expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Nagaland.

The Governor termed the North-East region a “jewel in India’s crown” with its vibrant communities and natural beauty.

In recent years, the region has witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship. The collective efforts of all states, including Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, have been instrumental, he noted.

The Governor further highlighted the role of people from the three states who have made Nagaland their home, stating that they have enriched the communities and exemplified the essence of "Unity in Diversity" that defines India.

To this end, he emphasised that the North-East States must continue to work together to address challenges such as connectivity, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development.

“Together, we can ensure that our region takes its rightful place in the national and global arena,” he stated, calling for a reaffirmation to work together for the prosperity and progress of the states, the region, and the nation on the Foundation Day.

Dihe Mao, President of the Mao Union, Kohima; Dr Luke Rymbal; and Nabarun Ghosh spoke respectively on behalf of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura on the occasion.

The Foundation Day celebration included various cultural performances from the three states, including a cultural song by the Maram Union, Manipuri Cultural Society, Manipuri dance by Nabarum Laishram, and Zeme and Zeliang Hoho.
