
‘Shinglungkuppa,’ a music video by the band Inyiushong was released on Sunday at Mhachaki, Rutsa, Bypass Road Kohima, by Pohwang Konyak, Advisor Fire & Emergency, SIRD, Relief & Rehabilitation, Government of Nagaland. Inyiushong is an experimental rock band from Longleng with Pauloi Phom on vocals, Ben and Phomngai Mukho on guitars, Baloi Buchem on the bass guitars and Yongtaumetmei on the drums.
Formed in the year 2010 among friends, the band's music is influenced by heavy metal, progressive rock, nu-metal and folklore. The band's debut music video “Shinglungkuppa” is based on Phom Naga folklore and it talks about the mysteries of the fabled log drum. The rite begins in the wild where village folks ask the chosen giant tree it is fettles and name. At night fall, the mighty tree reveals it is vigour, will and divulges his name as Shinglungkuppa.
While the folk assures to keep it safe in morning, takes it down, carves it into a stunning log drum and escorts it along with Victory chants back to the village.
The function was also attended by N. Bongkhao Konyak, advisor DUDA, CL John, MLA along with well wishers and friends.
