Some of those who voted YES had this to say
• Yes. Just look at our roads we keep blaming the government, but equally important are the contractors who are actually responsible for its quality. So they must also be held accountable. Our state government is not confident of itself, so they keep giving grant-in-aid to companies and NGOs to do its dirty work, and these organisations must also be held accountable.
• Definitely. When we have a government that is corrupt and taking commission, there is no other choice but for the public to step in and see that the companies, contractors and NGOs are using the money according to their detailed project report.
• Yes, This is not even an issue. They should be made to submit all purchase and completion bills to concerned depts n let the financial institution decide whether the completed work is deemed payable without any politics behind.
• yes definitely. They are spending public money with certain profit or work rendered for the betterment of citizens. So citizens have every right to scrutinise. Already rights have been given through instrument like RTI. Public should fully utilise this right
• Yes. Even names of individuals and companies should be made public to see who's doing what
• Yes, why not...
• Yes. How much commissions they have to pay and to whom. Perhaps the public can then intervene and help them to do a proper job.
• Yes. But the 3rd factor might be the stumbling block for transparency.
• ost definitely but, on conditions. Because in our land there are five types of people who will definitely demand you 5-25% of the money just to feed their kids and themselves.
• yes, every penny should be accountable.
• Yes, if they are taking money from the government they must be accountable. The government must be the ones that should be taking the initiative to see that the public money being utilized in the right way for the right reasons.
• Yes! Transparency and accountability should be enforced on them not just for proper implementation of the allotted work(s) but also for holistic development and better, progressive mutual coordination in the future.

• Yes, opening it up for public accountability and transparency maybe the best way to also deter the government officials and ministers from taking commission. We keep talking about backdoor appointment and the names of those suspected of backdoor appointments are being released in the public. • Yes, every rule is flouted in nagaland. a time has come to punished such who are responsible and the culprit for the interest of the public.
• One of the methods of corruption by the government is to demand commission for every work order they give to companies and contractors. So yes, there must be public transparency and accountability. Since most of the work order is related to public work and welfare, the companies must show how the money has been utilized.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say
• Not public scrutiny but transparent with the govt.
• No, not directly. It should be done through the proper channels.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say
• In the real sense, this question should not arise. It is actually the government's responsibility to keep a check on those NGOs, companies and contractors and see that the public money is being used for the allotted work. But, alas, in our beloved Nagaland, the government is hand in glove with them and so there is no option to take stringent steps to see that the public works being done by the organizations are done according to the rule of law.
• For this to happen a proper system that is well balance and non-biased should be in place so that it is fair to everyone.
• People get funding for whatever projects they do, and these projects are for public purposes and benefits, versus individuals per se, hence it is only logical that such scrutiny is done maybe not directly to the NGO itself but through the government agency that is giving the funding. People have the right to audit the funds given and ensure that it is being used fr what it was asked for.
