DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Sümi Hoho has commended the Government of Nagaland for advancing the long-delayed Nagaland Foothill Road project and urged all stakeholders to work together for its timely completion.
In a statement, Sümi Hoho President Dr. Vihuto Asumi expressed appreciation for Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Roads and Bridges Minister Kaito Aye for their leadership in reviving the crucial infrastructure project, which has remained incomplete for nearly 15 years. The organization also acknowledged the efforts of the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), which represents 12 tribal bodies, for its role in maintaining construction standards and ensuring accountability.
“As the Nagaland Foothill Road is fundamentally a people's road, it is imperative that all stakeholders—authorities and contractors alike—respect and prioritize the collective voice of the people,” the statement read. The Hoho backed the NFHRCC’s demand for formal agreements to ensure transparency and adherence to quality standards.
However, the organization voiced concern over recent public disputes regarding the project, particularly exchanges on print and social media. “Public disagreements and personal attacks do not serve the cause of development but rather deepen divisions and hurt communal harmony,” it stated, urging all parties to resolve differences through constructive dialogue.
