Dimapur, March 21 (MExN): Peace channel on conducted ‘district level orientation for the teacher’s coordinator’ at North Eastern Institute for Social Science Research Hall for sixteen teachers representing seven schools from Dimapur on March 19.
Rev. Father C.T. Varghese Sdb the rector of Don Bosco Hr. Sec School Dimapur while addressing the teachers as resource person pointed out that today society needs educators not teachers. He further goes on to say that effectiveness in teaching comes only when there is innovation and creativity. He encouraged the participants to manage their class a student’s centre and captivate their minds. The strength of the teacher lies not in the power to control and maintain silence in the class but in being able to inculcate the values of sympathy, empathy, attention and love in education. He concluded his session by explaining the seven principles of success Steve Jobs.
Rev. Dr. CP Anto, Director Peace Channel addressed the teachers present with the magic of Positive Thinking. He asserted as educator one should have positive thinking and possibility thinking. Emphasizing on classroom management with reference to peace education he said, people perception in the present scenario has change; today people do not want information but solution. He further added that educators are endowed with the responsibility to bring up the weaker one and teacher has the ability to break or make. He guided the participants with the Peace Channel strategic approaches and methodology of Peace education.
The programme ended with evaluation and action plan for peace education in the institutions. Janthuiyang, RK John Project Coordinator Peace Channel gave the concluding remark and draws a framework for peace development programmes.
