Dimapur, January 7 (MExN): Maj. Gen. Atanu K Pattanaik, Sena Medal, Chief of Staff 3 Corps, inaugurated the Special National Integration Camp on January 7 at Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima.
600 cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC) from 17 Directorates from all the precincts of the country, including 110 cadets from the North East Region, attended the inauguration programme in the presence of Brig MS Nikam, Group Commander, Group HQ Kohima, who is also the Camp Commandant, and Associate NCC Officers of all states and UTs.
Maj Gen Atanu K Pattanaik in his speech emphasised on being good and disciplined citizens of India since National Cadet Corps is the nursery for grooming tomorrow’s leaders, according to a press release received here. Stating that the message of national spirit and unity was demonstrated through the cultural events organised by the cadets, he accentuated that every such event keeps the nation united, particularly by the young generation representing mini India.
The objective of the camp, the release said, “is a process by which diverse youth and culture are synthesized into a unified whole in order to achieve harmony, common identity and above all national consciousness. The aspiration of this camp is to assimilate the entire youth into a common identity i.e. NCC Cadets with the motto ‘Unity and Discipline’.”
It further noted that all training in the NCC is conducted in a military environment, so as to help the cadets inculcate the finer qualities of “our” military heritage. “It helps in developing discipline and ability to work hard, which gives them a sense of purpose and helps them overcome the trials, tribulations and complexities of their adolescent years,” it added.
The Chief Secretary of Nagaland and the Governor of Nagaland are slated to visit the camp on January 11 and 14 respectively.
