Sr Women’s T20 Trophy: Nagaland ‘motivated’ for next despite missing Plate Division title

Dimapur, October 28 (MExN): Despite narrowly missing out on the Plate Division title in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2025–26, the Nagaland Senior Women’s Cricket Team remains upbeat and motivated for future tournaments.

Led by Captain Limatola Ao, the team finished as runners-up after a spirited performance in the final against Sikkim at Agartala, Tripura, on October 17.

Chasing a target of 132, Nagaland came close but eventually fell short by 10 runs in a closely contested encounter.

Reflecting on the campaign, Captain Ao acknowledged the narrow loss but lauded the team’s resilience.

She noted that the team started strong, dominating the powerplay, but a few quick wickets shifted the momentum and though both sides felt the pressure, it was composure that made the difference in the end.

“But I’m proud of how far we’ve come and remain motivated for what’s next,” she shared.

A statement from the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) described the silver finish as both an achievement and a reminder of the team’s growing strength in women’s cricket.

It also signalled a promising path ahead for the State’s emerging players, it noted.

Throughout the tournament, the NCA held, Nagaland displayed consistency and teamwork, registering strong performances against Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Manipur to reach the final
Ambika Kailas Watade contributed crucial runs at key moments, while Najmeen Khatun’s all-round skills proved instrumental in the team’s progress, it added.
