State government directs DC Dimapur to stop ‘ movement against illegal Bangladesh immigrants’

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13 (MExN): The Chief Secretary of Nagaland has written to the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Smti Hushili Sema with regard to the movement against the illegal Bangladesh Immigrants to be taken up by the Public Action Committee (PAC) of the Naga Council Dimapur. 

“It has come to the notice of the Government that the Public Action Committee under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur is contemplating to start a movement against Illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from tomorrow onwards”, wrote the Chief Secretary to the DC Dimapur. 

Besides the Chief Secretary stated that an “NGO is not authorized to take such action against any group of people” and pointing out that “such movement at this juncture is likely to vitiate the atmosphere not only in the State but in other parts of the country as well especially in view of the targeting of people from the North East reported from Maharastra and Karnataka etc. and the fear being created in the minds of the Nagas residing outside the State”.

“You are therefore, requested to call the Public Action Committee of Naga Council Dimapur and impress upon them the need not to proceed with such a movement at this juncture, as it could be misunderstood in other parts of the country with adverse consequences on our people residing outside the State”, the Chief Secretary wrote.
