Students urged to be role models

YAA 51st General Conference concludes

Tuensang January 14 (MExN): The 51st General Conference of the Yimchungrü Akherü Arihaho (YAA) commenced on January 11, hosted by Y. Awünrü Village under Shamator sub-division, Tuensang.  

R. Tohanba, Parliamentary Secretary, Municipal Affairs, Economics & Statistics graced the inaugural session as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he urged the students to be role models by overcoming all challenges in life. Stressing on the importance of time management, he said that there is no shortcut to success. He mentioned six powerful ethics of life namely to believe before we pray, to listen before we speak, to earn before we spend, to think before we write, to try before we quit and to live before we die.  

While contemplating on the theme of the conference, Tohanba opined that it is time we reform our lives and forge ahead in every sphere. Referring to Gandhi’s stance on education, he advised the students to inculcate basic education and prepare oneself for employment. In conclusion, he made a clarion call to ‘forgive and forget, bear and respect each other’s liberty to attain peace on earth.’  

Earlier in the programme, Acting President, T Solumba said the welcome address while KTC students and T Chimrila presented songs.  

K. Keozhi President, YTC and Rongli Sangtam, Advisor, ENSF also spoke on the occasion. Rev. Z. Thsankiu, Executive Secretary, YBBA pronounced invocation and Martin Chimjiba, Catechist, St. Francis Church, Shamator said the benediction prayer. A total of 63 federating units, above 2000 delegates attended the conference, which concluded on January 13.  

The programme was compered by Athrongla and Nuheymong, while vote of thanks was delivered by Sonal Assembly Secretary, YAA.
