Sümi Hoho debars two with immediate effect

Zunheboto, September 13 (MExN): The Sümi Hoho, on September 12 debarred two of its members from participation in all social, religious organizations and any activities/functions of the Sumi people for a period of 6 years, with immediate effect.

This was executed as per its executive meeting held on September 4 in Zunheboto, where the apex body of the Sumi people deliberated on the issue pertaining to those individuals who participated in the Naga Hoho meeting on August 28 in Dimapur “against the clarion call of the Sumi Hoho to refrain from the said meeting.”

The Sümi Hoho in a press statement viewed that “their participation defiled the endeavor and resolution of the Sumi Hoho and demeaned the dignity and prestige of the Sumi people.”

As such, the Sümi Hoho had issued an ultimatum to HK Zhimomi, Toniho Sheqi to resign from their respective posts in the Naga Hoho, while the two other members who spoke during that meeting, were directed to tender written apologies within a period of 7 days on or before September 12.

The Hoho in its ultimatum had warned that “if the individuals failed to abide by this directive, they shall be debarred from participation in all social, religious organizations and any activities/functions of Sumi people for a period of 6 years.”

In this regard, the two persons who spoke during the meeting had tendered their written apologies, to which the Hoho “acknowledged in good faith.”

However, HK Zhimomi and Toniho Sheqhi having failed to resign from their posts as office bearers of the Naga Hoho, the apex body said the two have been debarred with immediate effect.

Therefore, to uphold the sanctity and dignity of the Sümi Hoho, it directed all the Sümi social organizations “not to engage the debarred persons in any social and religious activities for a period of six years.”
