Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): Former MLA of Kiphire, RL Akamba has appealed to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for withdrawal of the order keeping in abeyance appointment of 51 police personnel in the District Executive Force (DEF) Kiphire.
According to a letter addressed to the CM on July 29 a copy of the order was received by the Superintendent of Police, DEF vide DGP Order No.PHQ (B-1) 38/88/2989 dated July 27, 2006, directing SP Kiphire to halt drawing pay and allowances of the 51 newly appointed police constables. “As a result the people of Kiphire once again got shocked at the way the government was behaving to the people of Kiphire. In view of the circumstances, as a leader I have decided to see the newly recruited police constables and could verify on 31st July, 2006. They were not bogus nor fictitiously appointed constables but genuinely recruited by fulfilling all the norms and procedures, physically, legally, medically and educationally fitted persons and they are found to be deserving young people” the former MLA stated in the letter. He informed that the constables were recruited in the last part of 2005 and their salaries and allowances are being drawn regularly.
Taking view of this, the MLA stated that in the interest of the general public, the state government should immediately withdraw the office order as cited above and necessary steps should be taken to ensure that the new recruits be sent to training centers for completion of their courses to be used in the service of the state.
“Further I would like to caution the state government that if such large numbers of educated and drop-out youths are discharged from the government service, the state government will be held fully responsible for any negative consequences out of the unrealistic and anti-youth action” Akamba stated.
