
Dimapur, September 26 (MExN): Under the directive of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation and in continuation of Swachhata Hi Seva, the PHED Urban and Rural Division Dimapur organized a launching programme of Swachhagrahis- Cleanliness Agent under Dimapur district on September 24 at Town hall, Dimapur.
Tsidi Hairang EAC, Dimapur who was the special guest for the occasion, launched the Swachhagrahis of Dimapur district and exhorted the gathering to make their village more aware of adapting the value of cleanliness and to make use of toilets for hygienic living. Executive Engineer, PHED Rural Division Er. L. Tongpang Longkumer gave the introduction to the Swachhata Hi Seva, a fortnight event earlier launched on September 15 which will culminate on October 2. He highlighted the status of the toilet construction under Dimapur district and commented on the remarkable achievement made through SBM (G).
Er. Ichirang Zeliang SDO, PHED spoke on the role of Swachhagrahis and their importance in achieving the ODF status and sustaining it through post ODF activities. He encouraged the Swacchagrahis to play a crucial role in sustaining the ODF status in their village, continued capacity building and motivation to the community and to facilitate community triggering sessions in the village using Community Approach to Sanitation (CAS).
The other resource persons who spoke on the session were Er. Wati Thomson Ao, SDO on the topic Water Supply and Sanitation; Er. Hotolu Sumi, JE on the topic Health and Hygiene; Er. Imtisowa Walling SDO on the topic Solid and Liquid Management and Roland Kikon, State Chemist on the topic Water quality and Monitoring.
The programme was chaired by Er. Nirie-e Nisa SDO, PHED and attended by swachhagrahis and WATSAN members from both urban and rural villages under Dimapur district.
