Agartala, October 25 (MExN): With the aim to honour and appreciate pioneering pastors and leaders, locals church pastors and missionaries, a group of young people in Agartala, Tripura organized ‘The Crossroad’ event at Hotel Polo Towers on October 23.

Among these invitees were Rev Jongbahadur Debbarma who first translated the Bible to Kokborok language and Rajani Kaipeng who first brought theological college to Tripura.

“This new breed of young people exemplified extraordinary generosity and sacrifices to show their love to these heroes of faith unlike how it was done before in Tripura. It went on to even inspire and encourage some of the adult folks to join with them, and together the appreciation event was held in the five start hotel,” said Monson Kalai, one of the organizers.

Kalai stated that the purpose of coming together was to appreciate and honour the lives of faithful pastors and leaders from Tripura and outside who have served their generation so commendably and faithfully and are still serving. “It was done as a gesture of love and appreciation for them as it was never done before in this manner... Love was the motivation behind doing things together,” he said. The purpose was also to encourage the believers and churches in Tripura and beyond, to take the opportunity of appreciating their leaders (pastors, missionaries, etc) unlike how they have done before.

It was also held with the intent to let younger generation grasp what God has done in the past through the older generations and connect with their stories to be able to serve their generation more effectively. “The event was intentionally planned for these two generations to cross their path with each other to see the kingdom of God advance and accelerate in the present generation and in unprecedented ways,” Kalai said.

During the event, according to Kalai, ‘one of the touching part was when the younger generation demonstrated humility and servant leadership by washing the feet of these leaders where we witnessed them being moved with tear of joy. “We saw both the generation being moved powerfully by the love of God. It was a time where love for one another was established,” he added.
