The other side of politicians

AB Naga

First of all, I sincerely apologize to you all if you cannot accept what I believe in. But this is what I feel and what I believe in and I don’t regret it.  I am not a politician and neither is my father, nor anyone of my relatives, cousins or villagers. I am not writing this article on behalf of any political party or politician.   We the citizens always come up with different criticisms, notion about the politicians. I believe that there are only a few politicians whom the public favours in general but the rest, most have stories of corruption, no development, eating public money, etc. But I believe that we cannot blame the politicians alone. We the public in general have a lot of shortcomings. We always blame the politicians for storing up money for themselves with the money meant for public funds, but don’t you think that the politicians are corrupt because of us sometimes? Why?

First of all I believe that politicians are not genies that can fulfill or satisfy everyone’s wishes. Secondly, a politician is not God and he is human with greed, selfishness and needs. So what is wrong if he has money? Don’t you think he is there for that? Don’t you think that his family has needs or wants? We the public have to blame ourselves since we do not give votes without money. So why can’t they store money for the next election to buy our votes? We ask so they steal. I believe that the politicians cannot open their gates for the public all the time. Don’t you think that they need security and privacy sometimes? How do you expect a politician to give you money every time you visit him? Don’t you think he doesn’t always carry cash? Why do you blame politician if he does not keep the promises? Don’t you know that it has been repeated throughout history? Then why do you believe him when he is lying? Why do you get angry when a Minister’s vehicle or squad speeds away and stops your vehicle? Don’t you think that they are busy and in a hurry for some in important work or security purpose?

Why can’t we the public change before we let our politicians change? If you want others to change, you must change first. Why can’t we just cast our votes without expecting individually but for common purpose? Why can’t we just judge according to their capabilities and not for their materialistic view or with selfish motives? Why do we have to die for others when we know that after they win, it would be for them? Why don’t you think that the money or materials will be over very soon but the development work will benefit everyone? Why can’t we elect some good leaders who have no money or do not have political background? Why do we need guns to win other’s favour?

The bottom line is, why do we take politics to our heads. Politics is very important but take it easy, elect your leaders wisely. No need to fight with family members, relatives, villagers, neighbours just for the sake of politics. We are in a democratic state, why don’t we give them freedom to them to caste their votes and not influence them with money or promises? I believe that if we the public start changing, the society will be a better to live in and we do not have to blame the politicians.
