Dimapur, September 15 (MExN): The excommunication of Rev. Dr. Tuisem Shishak by the Tangkhul Naga Long is not Naga law or a Christian practice, says the NNC. While in Naga customary law, criminal offences like murder or incest are deserving of excommunication, no one is liable for the said action for “confession for his wrong commitment or for the wrong committed by his clan or community,” the NNC stated today in a response issued by member Thomas.
Rev. Dr T Shishak as a Tangkhul and well-known Christian leader has nothing wrong to confess and express the mistake of some of his community members because it is true that some of them under the leadership of NSCN-IM general secretary Th. Muivah had committed terrible crimes, the NNC contented. The same is continued today and Th. Muivah and his mean show no signs of admitting their ‘mistakes’ the council lamented.
The NNC queried “Can TNL deny these facts? No Naga can say that killing their own Nagas and burning down heir own villages is fighting the aggressor or fighting for freedom.” It explained that because of the killings and violation of Human Rights by members of the said community, they have defamed and damaged the image of the Tangkhuls but not because of Dr. Shishak’s confession.” The NNC added that if the TNL or “Timothy Kaping” says “killings, false allegations, telling lies are not sins or wrong they are not Christian.” Further, they “know not Naga laws and Christian practice either” it added.
