Towards Cohesive Living: Nagaland to join angikaar campaign

Nagaland would soon see series of activity relating to environment protection, water and energy conservation, healthy and cohesive living through “angikaar- A campaign for change management.”
The state will be joining three month campaign to ‘mobillize communities for behavioural change’ management with rest of the country from October 2 till December 10.
Towards this, a state level workshop for Training of Trainers (ToT) on the campaign was organized here today by Nagaland’s municipal affairs department under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Housing for All (Urban), Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
Among others, angikaar would focus on segregation of waste - wet waste in green bin and dry waste in blue bin.
The campaign will focus on smoke free kitchen for better health, avoid burning of fossil fuel, reducing air pollution.
angikaar target to increase green cover to help tackle adverse climate change and to emphasis planting trees to save environment, shift to energy efficient appliances, encourage the use of LED bulbs and use of solar energy devises.
It will also focus on health and hygiene, water conservation and say no to plastic, refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle for environment protection.
In the area of cohesive living, the campaign will spread the message of unity in diversity, respect and tolerance for other religions and cultures, ensure safety and security of women and children, promote a peaceful, harmonious and cohesive living amongst communities to sustain natural habitat and also engaging communities for a healthier and happier living by working towards social and environmental goals.
An awareness campaign for social behavior change, angikaar will be focusing on issues such as water & energy conservation, waste management, health, sanitation and hygiene for beneficiaries of completed houses under PMAY (U) through community mobilization and IEC activities.
For this purpose, the campaign will converge with missions/schemes under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Environment, Forest & Climate Change, New & Renewable Energy, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Power, Jal Shakti etc.
The objective of convergence is to link the PMAY (U) beneficiaries with the schemes and programmes of other Ministries.
