‘Towards progression of sustainable peace’

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 19 (MExN): The Peace Channel organized a capacity building programme on October 16 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School and Christ King Higher Secondary School Kohima.  

Speaking on the occasion, Alino Chishi, Kohima District Coordinator, shared on the seven principles of peace which are universally accepted as principles for peace promotion world. Stressing on the topic she added that the seven principles contains highly nurtured values for peace in almost every corner of the world, and peace would be easier to achieve if each person follows these principles of peace.  

Having concern for the need of peace in society, she asserted that peace is one of the most essential requirements of humanity and that peace differs from person to person based on personal experiences, situations and perceptions. She encouraged the students to follow the principles of Peace i.e. “Spirituality for peace, Reconciliation, Sacrifice, Voluntarism, Self-realization, hospitality and Non- violence.” She added that following these principles will enable society to become free from the nest of conflict.  

The programme included a peace prayer and peace pledge, which was initiated by the club members; ice breaking games, input session, group discussion, sharing and learning experience, and where majority of the students expressed and shared that they will inculcate the principles in their daily life.  

She further motivated the students to practice and cultivate a peaceful atmosphere within oneself and with ones surroundings through acceptance and dialogue.
