Traditional well in Upper Khomi inaugurated

Phek, February 20 (MExN): The existing traditional well has been serving its purpose to the people of Upper Khomi citizens since time immemorial. However, with the passage of time and the increasing demography of its citizens the need to construct a bigger well was felt expedient to suffice the need of its populace, stated a DIPR report. 

Therefore, a proposal was put forward to Rural Development, Government of Nagaland for construction of Upper Khomi traditional well during 2021 by VDB Upper Khomi which was accordingly approved by the concerned department. 

To this, an amount of 10 lakh was sanctioned towards the aforesaid work measuring an area of 15ft in breadth and 30ft in length x 4ft height respectively. In addition to this development, the need to upkeep the environment clean and encourage good sanitation, one bathroom measuring 10ft x 8ft was also constructed attached to traditional well and one resting shed measuring 6ft x 24ft as well, to lighten the burden of womenfolk as well as youngsters to conveniently carry their weightage of water load without difficulty to their homes.
