Training on artificial insemination in pigs concludes at CAU, Jalukie

Jalukie,September 6 (MExN): A three-day training program on "Artificial Insemination in Pigs," organized by the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Jalukie, concluded on September 5.

The training, held from September 3 to 5, saw the participation of 15 AI workers and farmers from various districts of Nagaland. Key topics covered during the program included pig reproduction, heat detection, oestrus synchronization, artificial insemination procedures, and the handling of AI materials. The participants also received hands-on training in semen collection from boars and post-breeding management.

Dr. A. Palanisammi, Head of the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, along with Dr. Tukheswar Chutia and Dr. N. Bhumapati Devi from the same department, and Dr. Iluheibe, Farm Manager of the Department of Livestock Farm Complex, served as resource persons for the training.

During the valedictory function, Dr. I. Shakuntala, Dean of the college, emphasized the importance of artificial insemination in boosting pig production in the state. She encouraged the trainees to adopt scientific breeding techniques for enhanced productivity. Certificates were awarded to the participants upon successful completion of the training.

Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, the training coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all involved in making the event a success.
