Wokha, September 6 (MExN): A district-level training on Routine Immunization Microplan and health strengthening activities was held at the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) conference hall in Wokha today. The session aimed to equip healthcare workers with the skills needed to conduct house-to-house surveys at the grassroots level.
Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton, District Programme Officer (RCH/UIP), welcomed officials from the Directorate and emphasized the importance of the training in improving the efficiency of healthcare services.
Dr. G.R. Rio, Deputy Director (UIP), Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, introduced key concepts such as the importance of the Routine Immunization Microplan head count, HMIS, IPPI state and district status, and addressing the issue of zero-dose children. He stressed the need for proper documentation and pointed out existing gaps in the Microplan that need addressing.
The resource person, Dr. Longri Kichu, RMNCAH+N Consultant (UNICEF), explained the microplanning format, noting that all health units should maintain this format for validation by external monitors.
Further sessions covering high-risk areas, the microplan format, and RCH were conducted by Dr. Panjung Pongen, Consultant Communication (UNICEF); Imli Longkumer, RPO (UNDP); and Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton.
The one-day training was attended by medical officers, community health officers, BPMs, ASHA coordinators, ANMs, and GNMs from across the district.
