Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): The Food Safety Cell of Dimapur Zone, under the Chief Medical Office, concluded a three-day onsite training on Food Safety Training & Certification (FoSTaC) from September 2 to 4.
The training was conducted in compliance with Section 16 (3) (h) of the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, which mandates training for individuals involved in food businesses.
Anup Kumar Tewari, a certified FoSTaC trainer from M/s. Aroma Shiksha Evam Seva Samiti, Korba, Chhattisgarh, led the training. Over 100 Food Business Operators (FBOs) from food manufacturing, catering, and retail sectors participated in the program. The training was conducted in five batches of 20 FBOs each, covering areas such as Pherima, Jharnapani, and the Dimapur and Chumukedima regions. Sessions were held at Pherima and Jharnapani on September 2, and at the CMO Conference Hall on September 3 and 4.
The objective of the program was to enhance the availability of skilled manpower in the food industry, promote compliance with food safety regulations, and instill a culture of food safety. Key focus areas included Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP).
Participants were registered under the FoSTaC portal and will receive certification following an assessment. The program was overseen by Samuel Zehol, Designated Officer of Food Safety, Dimapur Zone, and his team.
