The Tuensang Police opened a public library on July 30.

TUENSANG, JULY 31 (MExN): A library was inaugurated at the Durbar Hall of the Superintendent of Police in Tuensang town under ‘Project Sarvodaya’ on July 30 with the theme “All will learn, all will rise”.
The programme was chaired by S Evai Phom, ABI (Admn), Tuensang which was followed by an invocation prayer by Changsang Chang, pastor, Police Baptist Church, Tuensang.
It was attended by tribal body leaders, student leaders, members of Book Club Tuensang and students.
Vishal, IPS, superintendent of police, Tuensang, expressed that this initiative will mark as a significance about the resurgence of the area to cultivate reading habit among the students. He opined that the police are a part of the community and it is his duty to give back to it.
“The work of police is not only about physical power but it is also about mental maturity,” he stated.
He made it clear in his speech to provide books in the library which is not available in the town and encouraged book reading habit stating, “reading expands our thinking”.
Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, superintendent of police, Tseminyu who was earlier posted as SDPO in Tuensang expressed gratitude and congratulated SP Tuensang for making this project into a reality. He highlighted the concept of the digital library wherein hundreds of lectures and books are being made available. He urged the members present to make use of the library.
Changson Chang, co-founder of Book Club Tuensang, in her speech stated that, “When community opens a library it shouldn’t be about books on shelves it should be a place for important social meetings accessible and affordable to all where everyone could meet on equal footing”. While congratulating on the initiative she expressed, “I hope this library will be the heart of education for students. So, let us keep the fire of curiosity burning and may we quench the curiosity with books”.
The library will remain open from morning 6:00 am to 10:00 am and evening 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm which will be free of cost upon issue of library cards. Books were also donated to the Chang Wedoshi Setshang library and Book Club Tuensang.
