Three children show their marked fingers after receiving their polio drops in Mon Town. Nagaland, along with other states in India on January 28 launched first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) for the year 2018 by administering the first two drops of polio to eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the State. With last reported case of polio on January 23, 2011 and India being certified ‘polio-free country on 27 March 2014 by the South-East Asia Region of World Health Organization, IPPI is still being carried across the nation to prevent importation of Polio cases from neighbouring countries where fresh cases are still reported.
