Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): The United Colony Council of Ward-20, Dimapur, has resolved that shopkeepers and business operators within its jurisdiction will not associate with any business union, committee, or trade-related organisation.
The decision was unanimously agreed upon during an emergency meeting convened on August 31 between the colony council, local landlords, and business operators.
According to a press release issued by the council, the resolution stands in continuation of earlier directives issued by the United Colony Council and an earlier mandate passed by the colony’s General Body.
The council stated that while organizations are generally established with the bona fide intent of community welfare, the "mushrooming of unions and associations" across Nagaland has drawn severe scrutiny from the public, legislative bodies, and the broader commercial sector.
In light of these concerns, the council noted that restricting such affiliations was imperative in the larger public and commercial interest.
The resolution will remain in effect until amended or approved by the competent authorities and formally ratified through a future General Body meeting of the United Colony Council. The civic body has urged all landlords, traders, and residents to comply with the directive.
