Chairman, NIDC, Tovihoto Ayemi, MLA, today said with unity, one can expect positive changes and development in the society.
The NIDC chairman who inaugurated the ‘Northern Angami Colony Gate’ in his address iterated the proverb ‘Unity is strength’, and noted that the northern Angami, wherever they may be settled, always maintain the sense of unity and brotherhood amongst themselves. Tovihoto said other people of tribes must also emulate this spirit of community and belongingness.
Terming the gate as a ‘landmark’, he said the gate also exemplifies that with community resources and cooperation, any development activities can be achieved.
On the development scenario in Dimapur, the NIDC chairman said though political leaders may have grand visions to develop the state’s commercial hub, yet due to “change of winds” in the political front, the elected representatives are not able to bring about the desired development.
He also admitted that so far the DAN government has not been able to take up any major developmental project in Dimapur, though being the gateway of Nagaland and the most cosmopolitan city in the state. He however said the government was trying its best to mitigate the problems faced by Dimapurians including repairing of roads and drainages. Tovihoto also informed that plan is on the anvil to construct two over-bridges at Dobhinullah junction and Deluxe Point to ease traffic congestion in the city.
He further said that to bring positive changes and development in Dimapur needed the concerted effort of all citizens and government.
President, Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO), Vilieo Rutsa, also addressed the gate inauguration programme. NA Colony chairman, Puopfukhrielie Merekesi, chaired the programme and colony elder, Kevise Sogotsu, proposed vote of thanks. Earlier, pastor Vilasetuo Suokhrie, offered invocation prayer.
