The Dimapur Police has arrested four persons in connection with a viral video showing assault by some youth in a village under Dimapur district.   

 

“Two persons namely Valen Sote and Medovi Kiso of Vidima village have been arrested for physical assault of some ‘non locals’ and dissemination of a video clip recording the same incident,” the Dimapur Police informed in an update on its official Twitter handle on April 18.

 

Later in the evening, the police updated that said that two more persons namely Thejasekho Sirie and Vilakhotuo Vizo have also been arrested in connection with the assault incident.

 

A total four persons have been arrested and are in police custody, the Dimapur Police said.

 

Meanwhile, the Dimapur Police informed that the victims of the incident are fine and have been discharged after routine medical examination by the district hospital.

 

A case has been registered in Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur. “Since the investigation is still at a preliminary stage further details will be updated as and when required,” the Dimapur police informed.

 

The arrest came a day after the Dimapur Police, based on a sou moto arrested one person from Nihoto village after a viral video clip showing some individuals “being physically screened by a car tape recorder.”

 

In must be noted here that the Nagaland police on Friday also urged all citizens to not “post, share, forward, disseminate, any message, content, pictures or photos, videos anything that could promote enmity on grounds of tribe, religion, nationality, race, language and other grounds of discrimination or disrupt public order, decency and morality.”

 

The Nagaland Police said that the violators will be prosecuted under various relevant sections of IPC, IT Act, CrPC and EDA Act.
