Kohima, September 7 (MExN): Farm Producer Organizations (FPOs) from Kohima, Phek and Wokha were distributed trucks and pick-ups at the programme organized by the department of Agriculture ‘Handing over of vehicles to FPOs under MOVCDNER’ held at the Directorate campus on September 5.
A DIPR report stated that Principal Secretary & APC, N Hushili Sema, in her address, said that the world is in a stage where we need publicity to show the development of the activities however, the level of our achievement should speaks for itself with or without publicity.
She acknowledged the officers, mentioning that they have been working with hassles, constraint and stress but at the same time requested and suggested them to be pro efficient and make use of the subsidy, or assistance that the department receives and utilize it in a judicious way as the department is directly connected to the land farmers and cultivators.She urged the district officers, agri scholars, scientists and the technical people to be a good motivator and impart their knowledge and experiences they acquired over the years in their field since our farmers are still at a primitive stage in dealing with the land and producers.She pointed out that Nagaland is ‘organic’ by default and have the potential and resources to develop in a wide range of area. This ‘potential’ should be properly studied and explored for the economic upliftment of the cultivators and farmers, she said.Husili, while applauding the department for the initiative and serving as the custodians of the farmers also stated that one should try to inculcate a positive attitude to our people and continue to uplift the farmers in the right direction. Briefing about the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER) Joint Director, K Remphamo Lotha highlighted that this programme was launched in the year 2015-2016. Under this scheme in ‘Component B’ category it provides Provision for financial assistance for setting integrated processing unit, Integrated pack house, Cold storage, Facilitate van etc. which the FPOs and entrepreneurs can avail at a subsidized rate of 50%.
