Virtual training on nursery management & accreditation held

Dimapur, July 30 (MExN): The Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland conducted a virtual training on ‘Nursery Management and Accreditation’ on July 29.

The training was organized with a primary aim to disseminate latest technologies for management of horticulture nurseries and quality planting material production, as well as to create awareness on the importance of accreditation of horticultural nurseries in north eastern region, the Institute informed in a press release on Friday.

Dr N K Patle, Addl Commissioner and Director in-charge CIH, Nagaland, in his introductory remark, welcomed all the speakers and participants to the training programme. He also gave an overview of the event and highlighted the importance of quality planting material production and registration of nursery.

 Dr R C Upadhayaya, Ex-Director, NRC on Orchid delivered presentation on nursery management and advanced propagation technology of horticulture crops while, D K Pal, Deputy Director, NHB, Gurgaon, delivered a presentation on nursery accreditation and National Nursery Portal. 

A total of 100 participants comprising of nurserymen, State horticulture officers, scientists, KVK field functionaries from Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh took part in the training and interacted with the subject experts, the institute stated.
