KOHIMA, JUNE 30 (MExN): The first-ever DCC Summer Cup Super Six Soft Ball Cricket Tournament, organized by the Dapfhütsumia Cricket Club (DCC) was held from June 28 to 29. The tournament saw participation from 19 teams eager to claim the title.

“The DCC Summer Cup was a thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship,” remarked the Tournament Director. “From the outset, teams displayed remarkable skill and determination, making each match fiercely competitive.”

On the first day, eleven matches unfolded, showcasing intense battles across the field. The subsequent quarter-finals commenced the next morning, marking the journey of the top teams towards the ultimate showdown.

The climax arrived with Vizo CC and Kati Super Strikers advancing to the finals after overcoming tough competition. In a thrilling encounter, Kati Super Strikers, electing to field first after winning the toss, faced off against Vizo CC’s formidable batting lineup. Vizokhotuo Nguzhü’s stellar performance, scoring 35 runs, anchored Vizo CC to a competitive total of 79/3 in six overs.

“Credit to our bowlers who maintained tight lines,” said the of Vizo CC. “It was a team effort, and we were determined to clinch the title.”

In response, Kati Super Strikers, led by Ntsenlo’s valiant effort with 45 runs, battled hard but fell short, reaching 61/1 by the end of their innings.

Despite Kati Super Strikers’ spirited performance, Vizo CC emerged victorious, lifting the trophy. Vizokhotuo Nguzhü was awarded the Man of the Match for his pivotal role in Vizo CC’s triumph.

A brief closing ceremony honored the winners and participants, attended by Neisedelie Sachü, President of the Dapfhütsumia Youth Organisation. In his address, Sachü emphasized the importance of perseverance and sportsmanship.

“The DCC Summer Cup has been a wonderful platform to promote cricket and foster camaraderie,” Sachü remarked.

“Congratulations to Vizo CC for their outstanding performance.”

Vizo CC received a prize of ₹20,000, while Kati Super Strikers took home ₹10,000 as runners-up. The Man of the Match, Vizokhotuo Nguzhü, was awarded ₹2,000 for his exceptional contributions.
