Wandering Bookfairs will be hosting a book fair in Dimapur from September 15–20 at E-Space, as part of its mission to strengthen reading culture in the Northeast by providing greater access to affordable books.
The announcement was made at a press conference on September 13 at E-Space, Duncan Bosti, near SBI Rangapahar, opposite Shamrock Hospital.
Coordinator of Wandering Bookfairs, Damudor Arambam, said the fair will feature imported pre-loved books atRs400 per kg, a unique concept compared to conventional bookstores where books are sold individually by price. Another exclusive offer, he added, would be a ‘buy one, get one free’ deal on new titles, making the event an exciting opportunity for readers.
Arambam expressed confidence that this would be Northeast India’s most budget-friendly book sale and an event not to be missed. Following its successful edition in Kohima earlier this year, the Dimapur fair will bring together a vast collection of over one lakh books, including bestsellers, pre-loved and new titles, academic works, self-help books, and children’s literature.
Highlighting the vital role of community support to sustain such initiatives, he urged students, educators, families and readers to join hands in making the fair a success.
“Each visit and each book purchased is a step towards nurturing a thriving literary culture in our region,” hesaid.
In future editions, Wandering Bookfairs aims to highlight local authors and publications from the region, providing a platform for voices and stories that reflect the identity, history, and creativity of Northeast India.
Arambam added that schools, colleges and authors interested in collaboration could connect with Wandering Bookfairs through its official Instagram handle or contact at 9013970743.
“Whether you’re a lifelong bibliophile or just beginning your reading journey, this fair is your chance to discover new stories, revisit old classics, and take home treasures you’ll cherish,”hestated.
The initiative itself began in Imphal among a group of like-minded individuals and has since travelled to cities such as Aizawl, Kohima and Guwahati, with the aim of expanding connections among the reading community throughout the Northeast. The Dimapur fair will run daily from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm, from September 15-20.
