‘We must continue to be cautious’: CMO Zbto

Zunheboto, January 16 (MExN): Zunheboto district kick started the COVID-19 vaccination at Town Hall, Zunheboto on January 16 which was launched by Deputy Commissioner, Peter Lichamo.

CMO Zunheboto, Dr K Akaho Sema, the first person to be vaccinated from the district, said that “since the vaccine is yet to be clinically trailed on the age group of below 18 years and pregnant women, it cannot be availed to these sections of persons.” 

He cautioned the gathering for awareness that mandatory second dose of vaccination will be after 28 days from the first dose and the effects of the vaccination will come to full effect after 14 days from the second dose.

“We must continue to be cautious even after being vaccinated of the first and second doses, till the effects of the vaccination fully develops in the system of the body,” he added.

Earlier, the vaccination drive began with the Prime Minister addressing through live streaming followed by the launching programme chaired by DTO (NTEP) Dr Y Aron Sema. 

DPO (RCH & UIP) Dr M Nukshisangla Jamir in her keynote address highlighted the procedures of the vaccination drive in which she mentioned that the first phase of vaccination would be for the medical department, health care workers and social welfare department. The second phase shall see the frontline workers being vaccinated which shall be followed by persons of above 50 years of age and comorbid and the last phase will be gradually made available to the general public.
