Mentally captured are the people of Kamjong area and the neighbouring villages under the threat of the self styled Kuki underground groups which have designated camps adjacent to that of Assam Rifles to the full knowledge of the latter, effecting extortion among the villagers in the said area by way of tax amounting to 5% inclusive of NREGS. The underground groups are also found openly moving around in full arms, strangling the passengers and demanding the vehicle tax along with the destructive part of it in the form of breaking doors and windows of the buses in many of the occasions. This has become a situational crisis and the order of the days under which the people now live in terror to which Assam Rifles the next door neighbour remain deaf and blind. More over the designated camp permissive to the Kuki underground groups in the hill district where the kukis have no place of their own, conducting operation of underground militancy in the Naga country can only land up in amounting to old Naga-Kuki clash.
The 18th July 2001 reminds us of the great turmoil in the valley with burning of lofty assembly building of Manipur and many others of the same causing so much of damages in the form of lives and wealth which is a sheer burglary act should actually be exterminated under no circumstances. But contrary to expectation the act is found to have been encouraged by the state Government with further wishes of such acts to take place in the near future evident from paying the burglary act with recognition of the day as the ‘Uprising Day’ having no significance in history.
The peace talk with the government of India for over a decade under certain political terms and conditions resulted in peace and tranquility in the Naga country with perfect law and order situation comparable to the social life of Mauryan age as recorded by Megesthenese, the scholar of the time. Ukhrul, a hill district of Manipur is not an exception with this impact on it. Half way through the life, the peace is being disturbed by the government of O. Ibobi, the draconian who develop an evil design with development of IRB & Commandos when there is no problem of law and order situation to which the whole world should look with the souring eyes, evident enough of his prejudice on the hill tribals of the state.
