WILL 2016 BE THE YEAR OF THE GREAT CHANGE IN NAGALAND? WHY?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

• Yes. This is provided the public are willing and ready to oppose the wrong policies and practices of the government, politicians, bureaucrats, contractors, NPGs, civil society and even the Church. We are tired of only lip service. It is time for the public to speak out their minds without being afraid anymore. Our silence is only adding to our suffering. For change to come to Nagaland, we must protest and shout out the truth.

• Yes, Because Christ can change. we must have faith in god

• Yes, because our Naga youth are becoming more and more aware of our rights. We are not going to remain silent anymore. The level of corruption is stinking like crazy and we can no longer bear it anymore. We will protest and agitate because our future is at stake and we cannot leave our future at the hands of greedy and selfish leaders who do not care about the people anymore.

• Yes, Nagas ultimately have to come together for peace and honourable settlement. Some who have been in the limelight want status quo at the expense of a yeoman Naga who is suffering.

• Yes, it certainly can be if we all put our minds together. We have to accept the fact that there is no 100% unity anywhere in the world. But what we need is for Nagas to come together and decide together what is best for us. If we can come and work out a common minimum program, than that is unity and we can bring about great changes in Nagaland.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

• No, every year, its always a change for us. Naga people with ‘pep talk’. When the mass wants to see something fresh in the air, where are the politicians, church leaders, public leaders, etc? With so many so called freedom fighters and so many factions eating up the Change that could be brought, its still a long away dream. Empty vessels make much more noise. It’s a big NO. Another year of the previous year.

• No, too much corruption.

• As usual the growth and development will be as slow as snail as our Babus are corrupted and selfish. There is no hope.

• NO, As long as the present mindset of the Nagas don't change, there'll be no change - great or small.

• No, there is no seriousness to bring change. Most of our leaders are only thinking about themselves. We are in a deep crisis for new visionary leaders. Without good leaders I dont expect changes in our state.

• Nothing changes in Nagaland except the pockets and chamchas of our public leaders every year.

• No way as the same vermits in power rule will produce the same result.

• Nagaland will never change "very shameful state in the country"

• No, we Nagas are driven by fear and suspicion. We are so suspicious of one another and our fear has paralyzed us to such an extent that we are not willing to explore and work for change. We are very much comfortable in our misery and even when change is for the betterment. We have become prisoners of fear and so clanism, villagism, tribalism, factionalism has come to rule over us.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

• For change to take place there is a need to change the present system. I am sure that once we realize that the system needs to be replaced, there will be great changes in Nagaland.

• Change? I hope so. Great change? I don't know.

• Cant predict anything...judging by the present scenario. But at least hoping to see even a slight good outcome.

• Nagaland is in the right place for all kinds of changes to happen. It is like a ripe fruit just waiting to be plucked from the trees. But no one is ready or prepared to pluck them. This is why we it is difficult to expect changes in Nagaland. We need to create a lot of awareness.

• Will change in political parties not state development.

• It depends on attitude of public and will of public

• The Naga public wants change but no one is willing to take the first step. We are all suffering silently. The common man was hoping that the Churches would speak out for them, but the Church is too afraid and is keeping silent. The NGOs instead of being a watch dog over the government, is now busy chewing the bones that are being thrown to them by their political masters. The NPGs instead of fighting for the Naga political rights is busy establishing their own kingdoms. How will change come in such a pathetic situation?

• Need people should change then nagaland will change
