Wokha Town Council cracks down on illegal market activities

Wokha, September 19 (MExN): The Wokha Town Council has issued a stern directive addressing illegal market practices that threaten to disrupt the local market system. 

According to an official order from the Office of the Wokha Town Council, certain trade permit holders have been found engaging in illegal activities, jeopardizing the smooth functioning of the market in Wokha Town.

The order emphasized the need for a free, fair, and open market, stressing that unrestricted competition is crucial for protecting both consumers and sellers.

The Council has mandated that all business establishments within its jurisdiction adhere to legal market practices to promote economic growth with transparency and accountability.

In response to these illegal activities, the Council has outlined severe penalties for offenders. Those found violating the order will face immediate cancellation of their trade permit license and a fine of `10,000.

Additionally, transporters, traders, shopkeepers, hotels, and institutions operating without valid permits are required to obtain the necessary documents from the Wokha Town Council during office hours. Non-compliance will result in confiscation of goods or shops and a penalty of `10,000.
